The arm is actually straight its just how it's sitting.
I wont lie I did have a bit of a problem with the picking up stitches. The first part (the collar) went beautifully, no problems and I used a crochet hook to pick up the stitches to put onto my needle and I really think that helped. The first side also went beautifully and again no problems, but I tell you that last side was a nightmare. I couldn't get the unsightly seem to be on the inside, it didn't matter with way I turned the cardigan the seem always came up on the right side. The more times it went wrong the more frustrated I got which as you can imagine really helped. In the end I had to come away and leave it for a couple of hours as I was worried that in my temper I would ruin it. As it happened the time away really helped and when I went back to it I got it right first time!
Above is a close up of the neck and buttons. I was really pleased with the buttons. Not sure if you can see them clearly but they are cats. One of Eva's first words was Cat, she loves them, including our cat Phoebe (as you can imagine Phoebe is less fond of Eva!!) In fact I bought the buttons first and then the yarn, sometimes it just works better that way, don't you think?
So my final photo today is of gorgeous Eva and her cardigan, I received this photo yesterday morning, to let me know it had arrived and fit perfectly, which was my other huge worry all the way through knitting this. Am I alone in this or do you worry about the fit of projects too? Anyway as you can see it fits fine and I think Eva was pretty pleased with her cardigan! What a little poser!
I also wanted to say a huge thank you for the amazing response and support I received last week for my idea about knitted Christmas cards. I am definitely going to do this, I am in production as we speak! Look out for further updates nearer October! Well I'm off to check out Tami's blog and see other Fo's!

Eva looks pleased as punch with her new cardi . It looks wonderful on her . Nice job !
ReplyDeleteYour sweater is adorable as well as your niece. I think it was good idea to pick the buttons before the yarn. It seems it really hard to find cute buttons and you can always find lots of yarn choices.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fiber Arts Friday!!
Super job! I think it is so cute and love the pink.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a lovely comment.
I'll be back again soon for a visit.
Ok, so where is the too-cute-my-monitor-is-going-to-explode button????!!! Love the buttons, love the fit, and love the glasses.
ReplyDeleteI love it - she's adorable! I seem to always have a difficult time picking up stitches too, but you're right - time away always works best!
ReplyDeleteAwww, she looks adorable in it and you did a super job!
ReplyDeleteeva's beautiful & I'm sure she'll get lots of happy wearing out of that lovely pink sweater. the buttons are perfect!
ReplyDeleteI fret myself silly about stuff fitting, particularly children...they grow so fast! It's a beautiful cardigan, and your niece looks delighted with it.
ReplyDeleteI am always worried about the fit and whether the recipient will like what I've made.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you've hit both spot on. :-)
It is really cute and it looks like your neice loves it. I tend to go for a bit too big for babies and children (warning, about to sound like my mother here) because if it is too big the sleeves can be rolled back and they will grow into it. Too small is much more frustrating
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better
Very nice, I love the colour too.
ReplyDeletewhat a cutie Eva looks in her lovely new cardigan, well done on the stitches. bee x
ReplyDeleteOh that looks really cute! I wish I could knit well. All I can do is a straight scarf!

ReplyDeleteLooks great!! As a fellow knitter I totally relate to the "I better come back to this later before I rip out everything!" feeling!

Oh my, your wee cardigan is wonderful. I hate picking up stitches, always have, probably always will. I also worry about size, but I'm gaining confidence as I go along! You should be proud of yourself, that's a job really well done!
ReplyDeleteWell done lovely little cardy. I always find it pays to walk away from something that isn't working, clears your head and allows you to think logically, it certainly worked in your case. Bet you're a favourite auntie now!
ReplyDeleteWow - what a lot of time and energy and love that has gone into that cardigan! I love the buttons :) Well done you!
ReplyDeleteLucy (Handmade Monday - Moseley's Giftware)
Great to see the cardigan being worn by its recipient.
ReplyDeleteAww so sweet, and what a beautiful little girl too.
ReplyDeleteKeep up your brilliant work darl xxx
Lovely cardigan and beautifully modelled!
ReplyDeleteWell done on the cardigan, sometimes you need to walk away as agree could end up the other side of the room.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful, lovely colour and as a great cat-lover, the buttons are gorgeous.

What beautiful work! Just charming! My sister knits and I've always been a little envious of her skill. She also spins on a wheel I gave her when I admitted to myself I was never going to bother to learn to spin. Drat, you have an amazing talent! That sweater is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow it looks amazing! and such a lovely photo to see at the end of your post! I love the buttons too :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat knitting. Love the colour It alwayts seams to help to give a problem a break. You can very often then see where the problem lies 1st off. I do it with everything. Your knitted cards sound intriging. I have just made a birthday card for my sister and incorporated a strip of knitting onto it. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteHi Sam, I am working through your list of things you have joined. I like joining in on things so thanks for posting these links. Hope you are feeling better with the asthma bee x
